August Book Haul
Another month, another book haul! In other news, I'm considering adding an addition onto my house to make room for all my books. I could do that right? I'm very buildy. *hammers thumb* Mmm, better not...
In Sunlight and In Shadow by Mark Helprin was another bargain buy from Barnes and Noble - say that five times fast! It's a lengthy piece of historical fiction about star crossed lovers, and I couldn't resist adding it to my TBR pile.
I picked up the ebook edition of Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson when it was a daily deal, because I've been wanting to read it for a while. It is a true summer read, and I definitely recommend it. Blog post to come soon!
Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne was a total impulse purchase. It's recommended for fans of Tamora Pierce, so that's pretty much all I needed to know.
I'm pretty sure Singing Bird was a Nook Free Friday book, so I didn't actually spend any money on this one! See me trying to justify my book purchases? It's ridiculous, really. I was really interested in the premise - it focuses on a woman who travels to Ireland to unravel the mysterious details of her daughter's adoption that took place twenty seven years ago.
I've heard so many people gush about this next author that I finally caved and snagged the first book in Maggie Stiefvater's Wolves of Mercy Falls series - Shiver. I think my hesitation had more to do with the premise than anything, but I guess I'm finally going to find out if her books live up to all the hype!
Love Letters to the Dead is another contemporary YA novel that I've been meaning to read ever since I heard about it. The premise seemed especially unique and I grabbed it when it was on Nook Daily Deal this month!
I definitely didn't do as much damage as I have in previous months, but I'm excited about these new (to me) reads! What books did you buy this month? Let me know what books you'd recommend in the comments below!
