Monthly Scribbles: August
August was a pretty hectic month for me, and I read significantly fewer books as a result. My favorite was All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng was a close second. I'll be putting up blog posts about both books very soon!
I didn't do a whole lot of TV watching this month, but I did finish the first season of Peaky Blinders on Netflix, which toyed with my emotions in the best way possible.
My nail polish addition is definitely becoming a theme of these monthly favorites, but if I'm being honest, my most worn item was Wet n Wild's megalast in Through the Grapevine. I even painted over the original coat with an additional coat when it started chipping. Please don't judge me. I was very stressed. Although I didn't plan it, I ended up wearing this color on my toes literally all month long. It's a pretty, fuchsia leaning plum/purple that I really like, but I'm definitely going to need a break from it after this month!
When you commute, you spend a lot of time listening to the radio play the same five songs over and over again until one day, you reach your breaking point. Since then, I've been listening to audiobooks, specifically The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson, which I highly recommend.
I heart getting to see good friends, and I was super excited that it happened this month. I made a trip to see a bunch of friends from college, and it was exactly what I needed amid a month full of stress and difficult decisions. I came back feeling rested, relaxed, and supported, and several pounds heavier (because of all the shopping bags and ridiculously good food).
I'm happy to report that while August wasn't exactly smooth sailing, it was certainly better than the month before! My magical moment - a la leighannsays - has got to be the new opportunity that came my way this month. It certainly wasn't what I thought it would be - life never turns out the way we expect - but I'm trying to keep an open mind and heart and really take advantage of what this opportunity has to offer.
I hope this finds you well, and that you also had weird and wonderful new opportunities this month. Let me know about your favorite things from the month of August in the comments below!
