Monthly Scribbles: November
Most Read?
Another month, another stack of audiobooks I've listened to during my daily commute. My favorite read of the month was The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I was surprised by how compelling this story was, given that a major plot point is given away within the first page. My in depth book talk about it will be up soon, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested!
I'm still living a cable tv-less existence, so I haven't been keeping up with my usual shows, but I did rent The Spectacular Now this month. I enjoy Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller in general and liked their chemistry together. I haven't read the book that the movie is based on, so you may have a different opinion if you're already familiar with the characters and storylines, but I liked it.
Most Worn?
Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes used to be my ride or die mascara when I first started developing an interest in makeup. It was a huge step up from the (classic!) Maybelline Great Lash (I'll always be fond of that mascara - it was like a right of passage into womanhood or something), but I hadn't used it in years! I saw it at half price recently during Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty and decided to give it a go again, quickly remembering exactly why I loved it back then - it's great for lengthening and defining, and it's layer-able without getting clumpy.
Most Heard?
I love discovering new music, and found Mitski when I was listening to leighannsays' most recent Spotify playlist. Mitski's album Bury Me At Makeout Creek is really intriguing, but my most heard is definitely her song First Love/Late Spring, which I've had on repeat non-stop for the last few weeks. She also has a really fun (read: snarky) Twitter if you're interested in checking her out there as well.
Most Heart?
It may not feel like we're approaching winter here, but the calendar doesn't lie - November is just about over! I've been breaking out some old favorites like the elf Lip Exfoliator (perfect for the colder months - if you're actually experiencing those), but there's always room in my life for a new favorite, and this month it's been the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams. I picked up a set of 3 recently and I have to say that while Istanbul is one of few baby pink colors I can actually take myself seriously in, and while I can't wait for warmer weather to rock Ibiza, an orange-y red, I heart the plum Prague color the most, since it's so perfect for the winter months.
I'd love to hear about your favorites from the month of November (or any month, for that matter), so leave a comment or come say hey on Twitter!
I'm a big lip color person too! Just like you (and probably everybody else), I, too, find myself turning to deeper plums and burgundies this time of year :)
ReplyDeleteIt just feels right to break out such beautiful colors at this time of year. Even if the weather doesn't always want to cooperate! :)
