It’s been over a month since I’ve read anything and I’d been hemming and hawing over choosing just the right book to get me out of my back to school slump — shoutout to Kate Canterbury, whose follow up to In a Jam, Shucked, allowed me to return to Rhode Island and the zany town of Friendship for a little while. Sunny “I’d call it a crisis but it’s actually just a Tuesday” Du Jardin and Beckett “you can’t have emotional baggage if you don’t have emotions” Loew brought me laugh out loud moments, giggles, and all the feels. ✨ tidbits: -lots of casual queer representation and no trauma about it -FMC with epilepsy and a service dog -everything isn’t perfectly resolved (but our characters still get their HEA!) -navigating complicated parental relationships -characters reading romance without shame -cameos from Shay and Noah from In a Jam -I can’t quite explain it but it reminds me of Schitts Creek While I was not expecting to pick up a book that was going to come for me on the parental and emotional baggage front 🫠 I’m still delighted to have picked this one up, and absolutely cannot wait for the second chance romance that is going to be Dex and Jenn’s book! ID: A kindle displaying the ebook cover of Shucked sits on a white shelf. I’m reaching out to touch the kindle with one hand, and my nail color matches the book cover. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CxZDCxzr1I1/
