Thanks to @dreamscape_media for providing me with a copy of AOC: The Fearless Rise and Powerful Resonance of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for review. This book came out over a year ago, and I’m so excited I finally got to pick it up! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As is the case for many millennials, AOC has long been on my radar: a working class woman of my generation who bested a long sitting congressman — a woman who effortlessly smacks down racists and misogynists on social media and who does all in her signature red lip. But beyond that, I didn’t know much about her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This collection, written predominantly by women, is dedicated to the rise of congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and what her success means: personally, politically, and in the landscape of American culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rather than a standard biography, this collection asks writers from a variety of backgrounds and specializations to discuss ways they’ve been impacted by AOC — from joining her at Standing Rock to hearing her speak up about “the Latina thing” to watching her speaking imperfect Spanish on national television to experiencing her willingness to take criticism of The Green New Deal (and use it to create change) firsthand. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I enjoyed and learned so much from this collection (swipe to check out all the essays & contributors) and can’t wait to seek out more like it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: A kindle on a white shelf displays the ebook cover of AOC. My hand is touching the kindle — the color of my red nails coordinates with the color of the book’s title. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CWx_VFFL-Hd/
