I’m always a little disappointed when the thing I end up liking best about a book is the cover. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy The Heiress Gets a Duke by Harper St. George — just that it won’t be making my year end favorites list. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ August is an American Dollar Princess who’s less interested in marriage than she is in running her father’s company. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Evan is an English Duke in need of funds for his crumbling estate, and he’s set his sights on a marriage of convenience with August’s sister, Violet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let’s start with the things I liked: -August and Evan have such a fun meet cute! -I enjoyed seeing this facet of the Gilded Age -Evan immediately is like: HER. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t have a strong list of things I didn’t like, just the impression that the book dragged a bit for me in the middle and I didn’t feel as emotionally wrought as I would have hoped. That said, I’ve already finished the second book in the series and definitely felt like there was more of the angst I was looking for! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding a mass market paperback copy of The Heiress Gets a Duke in one hand. There are white curtains and wood floor visible in the background. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Clgb2nNrGVK/
