Dangerous by Amanda Quick begins with Prudence making a deal with someone called The Fallen Angel to save her brother’s life because sure?! -He’s going to fight a duel with her brother until she is like “actually what you’re going to do is apologize” -His cat is named Lucifer because of course it is -He can’t sleep at night until he sleeps with her -The love confession!!! Prue and Sebastian have such a pure meet cute and love story and their dynamic is just delightful. Everyone is terrified of Sebastian except for Prue who is completely unbothered and it’s hilarious because she’s right! Laughed out loud when her brother was like, “BUT HE IS THE RUIN OF LADIES!” And she was like, “ok name one” 🤣 Even better, it’s a murder mystery! The Earl of Angelstone loves a puzzle and moonlights for the Bow Street Runners, while Prue is a ghost hunter for hire. They have so much in common and their reluctant-turned-eager partnership is darling and reminded me of Jack and Phryne from Miss Fishers. Glasses wearing nerds being kryptonite for revenge bent villains has been the Amanda Quick playbook for the last few books of hers I’ve read, but I preferred Dangerous to Scandal, both because the MCs are more likeable and because the murder mystery plot was so much more fun than the deception/murder plot. Please check CWs before reading. 📸: I’m holding up a mass market paperback of Dangerous in one hand. The cover is made to look like it has a stepback but tragically it does not. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DBqzISPRqDN/
