It's Monday! What are you reading? {07.25.16}

As we edge ever closer to the start of the school year and the return of my full time job, I am feeling increasing pressure to read ALL the things while I still have the opportunity. I'm hoping to read at least enough to get me to 50% of my GR goal before the end of the month, since Goodreads has rudely informed me that I am 5 books behind schedule, but we'll see how it goes.

LAST WEEK:

I devoured My Lady Jane (all 500 pages of it) in one day. It's a fictional version of the life of Jane Grey. If you're into YA, this probably isn't the first time you've heard someone mention MLJ, but I second (and third) whoever told you to read it. I struggled through the first few chapters of Jane Steele, but couldn't get into it. Seriously, what is it with me and Jane Eyre adaptations lately? I might have to give this novel about a murderous Jane Eyre-alike a second shot, but I decided to take a break and pick up The Beautiful Bureaucrat instead. I didn't look back. It's fantastically creepy and weird and somehow also hilarious and relatable? Helen Phillips, teach me your ways.

THIS WEEK:

I'm excited to pick up The Last One, which I've had on hold at the library since Julianne @ Outlandish Lit mentioned she was reading a book about someone on a reality TV show who is unaware the apocalypse is happening. Pretty awesome, right? I've still got How to Set a Fire and Why from a recent library haul, so I'm hoping to have time for that, as well as The Unfinished World, which I almost bought at my bookstore a few months ago because it's just so pretty. I've read a couple of stories from the collection already and they are pretty bizarre. Whether they're weird in a way that works for me, I haven't decided yet.

What about you? What are you reading this week?
