A little known fact about me (because I don't think I have read many since starting my booksta) is that I LOVE WEIRD BOOKS! Dig by A.S. King definitely qualifies. The sections, titles, tense, and narrative style are unlike anything I've read and while I am normally not a fan of multiple viewpoint novels, this is a masterclass in how to execute them. The audiobook also helped (it's excellent, and narrated by the author). The teenage voice in this is so clear - it reminds me a lot of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book is hard hitting contemporary YA meets multigenerational family drama. It grapples with generational differences, gender, wealth, and race in ways that are nuanced, real, and relevant. @nicstone has a great IG live on her page with the author and it gave me the push to finally pick this up. I'm so glad I did! I loved piecing the puzzle together as the various perspectives began to intersect and I think you will, too.
