Happy Pub Day to Simply Stitched with Embroidery by Yumiko Higuchi! I fell in love with embroidery in quarantine. I've made a dozen different projects, and I'm not slowing down anytime soon - that's why I was so excited to pick up this book. Her designs are a modern take on old school embroidery motifs, which I'm surprisingly drawn to. There are a million things you can embroider besides hoops to hang on a wall, but this is the first time I've come across an embroidery craft that I felt was manageable for a relative beginner like me. Although the book focuses on the pouches and purses that can be made, the patterns are super versatile and as with any embroidery, can be adapted for your particular needs or tastes. I'm excited that the book contains instructions for both the embroidery itself as well as construction of the pouch or purse. It's worth noting that the instructions do call for machine sewing at times (not everyone owns a sewing machine!) Still, I'm already picking out the pattern and fabric for my first big girl embroidery craft (and I can't wait to see how it turns out!) Thanks to @netgalley for an advance copy of this book. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CEmBzOQgt4Y/
