Do you ever completely forget that you've finished a book? Apparently I do. I found a bookmark holding my place in the short story collection Vampires in the Lemon Grove by Karen Russell and decided that spooky season was the perfect time to finally finish it - and I did. But when I went to add it to Goodreads, I discovered I'd already marked it as completed in 2016! I don't know if I made a mistake or really did finish the book and didn't remember it, but either way, here's my original photo and review: Of the eight stories included in this collection, I'd have to choose "The Barn at the End of Our Term" and "Dougbert Shackleton's Rules for Antarctic Tailgating" as my top two, with "Vampires in the Lemon Grove" and "Reeling for the Empire" as honorable mentions. What I liked best about this collection was the variety - the stories are all weird in different ways, but not so much so that they are alienating to the reader (at least, I didn't feel that way). I often struggle with short stories, but I'm also beyond impressed whenever I come across well written ones. These definitely fit the bill in that respect. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CHfb1tzAniR/
