Matthew Swift has two secrets: He’s in love with Daisy Bowman. As for the other? He’ll never tell. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Daisy’s father has decided that if she can’t find a suitor soon, she’ll have to marry his protégé, Matthew Swift. Horrified at the prospect, Daisy recommits to finding a husband, only to discover she might actually be falling for Matthew after all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas is book four in the Wallflowers series, so there are some spoilers for previous books. Without giving anything from this book away, I’ll say that I loved the way the Bowman and Westcliff families rallied around Matthew, when Kleypas could so easily have gone the other way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I appreciated how she chose to navigate the evolving relationship between Lillian and Daisy as grown women, and it was great to see more of my favorite couple, Lillian and Westcliff, of course! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was so fun to witness the birth of baby Merritt, having already met her as an adult in Devil in Disguise (the last Ravenels book). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But beyond that…it was fine? I think I needed more. Daisy and Marcus are both just so nice and as far as I can tell, Marcus doesn’t have a flaw. There’s not really anything keeping them apart except themselves which I’m not a fan of. But ultimately it was great to see the gang together again at Stony Cross Park for one last Wallflowers reunion! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CW: sexual content, mention of miscarriage ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Scandal in Spring. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CcvIO3KL8mT/
