I’m pretty sure my love of Billy Joel started in utero (thanks, mom!) but lately I kept tripping over the same song of his again and again. I have a running list of lines I want to embroider, and this moved to the top. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I recently finished Alanna Okun’s memoir, in which she described embroidering a series of negative mantras that live in her head in an attempt to exorcise them. This project felt a bit like the inverse: maybe enough stitches would cause the words to permeate, to encourage my ever anxious mind to chill the fuck out. I’ll let you know how it goes. 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID1: A large embroidery hoop with the lyrics “slow down you’re doin’ fine / you can’t be everything you wanna be before your time” stitched on it. There’s a bookshelf and a large stack of books in the background. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID2: A close up shot of the same embroidery piece. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Cc755Rarifu/
