An Affair with a Notorious Heiress by Lorraine Heath follows Tillie and Rexton. She’s a scandalously divorced member of the aristocracy trying to get help her sister to find a match. He’s a bachelor with a squeaky clean reputation who wants his children to avoid the scandal he faced. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This book has major The Viscount Who Loved Me vibes with the “my sister’s suitor” trope, and I loved that the revelation happened so much earlier in the book than I expected it to. But I didn’t love much beyond that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The “reveal” about our FMC was one I saw coming for miles and I didn’t feel as much chemistry as I wanted between our two MCs. There was a weird prologue/epilogue from the MMC’s journal that’s never addressed in the book. And the title is just…not good. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m beginning to feel that Lorraine Heath’s backlist just isn’t for me. I LOVE her Once Upon a Dukedom series (Scoundrel of My Heart and The Duchess Hunt are some of my favorite historical romances of the year) but her backlist has been aggressively fine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CW: attempted assault, infidelity (neither from the MMC), sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding up a mass market paperback of An Affair with a Notorious Heiress. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Cjkwqa4rW_A/
