When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James follows Piers, a brilliant, caustic doctor with chronic pain from a leg injury — sound familiar? It’s because this book is inspired by House MD! This premise is such a cool one for a historical and I really enjoyed it and all of the sub plots that unfolded. The relationship between Piers and Linnet is so fun and swoony with an absolutely heart wrenching caretaking scene that gave me all the feels. I really like that Linnet is forced to confront her feelings about her looks, which doesn’t happen often in Beauty and the Beast retellings. I love this genre of retellings and When Beauty Tamed the Beast does it well because it really makes the story it’s own.
