Your Wicked Ways by Eloisa James Helene and Rees have been separated for ten years when Helene decides to start creating the life she wants for herself, no matter the scandal she causes. Let’s start with the things I loved: -the dual storyline of Helene and Ross and Lina and Tom! — it reminded me of Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas -the 90s esque movie makeover sequence -the musical element/that they are BOTH composers -the female friendship/solidarity As far as the things I didn’t love? For a marriage in crisis/second chance romance there is a shocking lack of groveling. There’s a lack of angst too — basically the book is just them having the conversations they should have had after they got married but like…ten years later? I feel like this book could have had a really great conversation about intimacy and figuring out how to bring your partner pleasure, especially since the couple’s bad sex is central to their separation, but it got glossed over! I didn’t dislike reading this one, but there are other Eloisa James novels I’d recommend over this one (When Beauty Tamed the Beast) and other marriage in crisis historical romances I’d recommend (Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Marriage, The Day of the Duchess). ID1: I’m holding up a mass market paperback of Your Wicked Ways. There’s a window and curtain in the background. ID2: I’m holding the same book, open to the stepback. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CwFnIgOLUAY/
