Today’s post is part #StepbackSaturday (without the guessing) and part review! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m working backwards through Sarah MacLean’s backlist, so I’ve already met one of the Talbot daughters, Sesily, in Bombshell, as well as briefly in The Bareknuckle Bastards series. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Rogue Not Taken is first book in the Scandal and Scoundrel series and it is SO MUCH FUN - I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump since my surgery and this was exactly what I needed. There’s humor, adventure, and so many shenanigans: a character dresses as a footman, and someone gets held up in a highway robbery and shot, just to name a few. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sophie is considered a wallflower compared to her outrageous sisters, but makes a choice that shocks all of society and ends up dragging King along for the ride. King might as well launch into a chorus of “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” but no one’s buying it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I haven’t read the Bridgertons series but I’ve seen the show and this book gives me major The Duke and I vibes with the scandal sheets and son who won’t give his father an heir — that said, it does differentiate itself so I wouldn’t let that stop you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some of my favorite moments: -kiss or we’ll be discovered -Beast showing Belle the library -Logan and Rory sniffing books ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: grief (loss of a loved one), sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID1: A mass market paperback of The Rogue Not Taken is stacked on top of a pencil pouch on top of a pillow. ID2: The Rogue Not Taken stepback ID3: Belle and Beast in the library in Beauty and the Beast ID4: Logan from Gilmore Girls asking, “I’m sorry. Excuse me. Did I just see you smell that book?” via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CacaNA3LTB8/
