It’s finally West’s turn! The reformed rascal we fell in love with in Cold-Hearted Rake (and again in Hello Stranger) gets a chance at redemption in Devil’s Daughter, where he finds himself falling for the widow of the boy he used to bully in boarding school. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ West’s humor and irreverence made this story a delight — no surprise there: “The book was falling, I was reaching for it, and your lips were in the way.” 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But I loved the depth, too. Phoebe is grieving the loss of her husband and the father of her children, but she’s also coming into her own now that’s she’s independent for the first time. Her determination to honor the memory of her late husband while acknowledging his flaws and the limitations of their relationship was done really well. I absolutely adored West’s relationship with Phoebe’s sons and West and Phoebe’s whole dynamic. I loved the parallels Kleypas drew between Phoebe’s father Sebastian and West, and the way that Sebastian helps mentor them both. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve only got one book left in the series, and I’m having a hard time narrowing down my favorites! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CW: grief (loss of a partner), sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: A mass market paperback of Devil’s Daughter stands in front of a stack of paperbacks with their pages facing forward so you can’t see the titles. There are trees and bushes visible in the background. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CZjxYyVrNAK/
