Can we get a little commotion for this cover?! ⚡️ Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas is the perfect blend of horror, western, and romance I didn’t know I needed. This one was on my October hopefuls list for a reason and it absolutely delivered. This atmospheric story follows Nena and Néstor, childhood sweethearts separated by class but brought back into each other’s orbit by the start of the Mexican American War. Nena and Néstor are so angsty in the best way and very much gave Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler vibes! As ranchers and vaqueros fight to defend their homes and livelihoods, curanderas work to heal casualties of battle and victims of something even more sinister… Vampires of El Norte exists in a liminal space between fiction and reality, a reminder that the legends are not as outlandish as they seem: monsters have always been real, and they very rarely look like monsters. 📸: I’m holding up a hardcover copy of Vampire of El Norte with one hand. You can see trees, storm clouds, and a trio of birds in the background. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DB3q_nzAnm1/
