Shoutout to @gracehartsbooks for encouraging me to finally pick up my copy of The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston! This has been on my October TBR for a couple years running for obvious reasons and I’m so glad I finally read it. Florence is a ghostwriter for a romance novelist and, after having her heart broken, can’t see a way to an HEA for the book or for herself. After unexpectedly returning to her hometown, she has to face her ghosts — both literal and figurative. I CRIED watching Florence grapple with grief and I can’t remember the last time a book made me cry where it wasn’t just like one glistening tear on my cheek (name that movie!) I’m a massive fan of Wooden Overcoats and this book gave me similar vibes because it’s set in a family funeral home with all the ensuing shenanigans. And the references aloneeee: Ashley Poston has my exact taste in books and I loved her nods to so many of my faves. The Dead Romantics is such a love letter to books and readers and I absolutely loved it. 📸: A paperback copy of The Dead Romantics lays flat on my couch. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DBtX1dkNZoE/
