After reading The Switch by Beth O’Leary earlier this year, I said I wanted to read more romance (and more stories in general) with older protagonists, and Royal Holiday surprised me by fitting the bill! I blew through all of Jasmine Guillory’s backlist this year, but I was saving this one for closer to Christmas. Her books all take place in the same world, but focus on different characters. Royal Holiday centers on the mom of Maddie, the MC from The Wedding Party. Vivian is swept into an unexpected adventure when her daughter drags her along on a work trip to England over the Christmas holiday, and ends up having a much more enjoyable time than she expected. There is definitely less conflict and drama than in Guillory’s other books, which makes sense given that these characters are more mature.
