Light Boxes by Shane Jones is a weird book (and I mean that as a compliment). It’s about a village at war with February personified, but it’s also about light and dark, love, art, and hope in the face of overwhelming loss and grief. ⁣ It plays with font and space in a way that reminds me of poetry, and like poetry, this novella could be read in one sitting or lingered over depending on your preference. ⁣ Light Boxes reminds me of reading Lanny or Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter - in that they feel like the same kind of weird to me. And like those books, this is one that some will find pretentious and some will find endearing. Fortunately, I’m the latter. ⁣ Swipe to see my favorite review of this book on Goodreads - from February himself 🤣 via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CJLq4g4gc5x/
