The Heart Principle is the third book in Helen Hoang’s Kiss Quotient series, and she didn’t pull any punches with this one. In her author’s note, Hoang writes about how Anna’s story is the closest to her own experience as an autistic woman and as a caretaker, and I think you can feel it in the writing of this book. Anna and Quan’s story deals with a lot of difficult topics - masking, people pleasing, adult autism diagnosis, autistic burnout, recovering from cancer, and caring for an ill parent - but don’t let that dissuade you from picking it up. Their journey unfolds in such a beautiful way, and as always, I’m looking forward to seeing what Hoang writes next. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: anti-autistic ableism, suicidal ideation ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m in cutoff shorts in a camp chair in the sun, and holding a paperback copy of The Heart Principle in my lap. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CU415xtLd_v/
