Hadestown has been my latest musical obsession, and there’s a line from a song that I can’t stop thinking about - a refrain really - in call and response between a cynic and an optimist: the cynic wants to know how the optimist is going to fulfill all the promises he makes because times are “hard and getting harder all the time.” That line just hits different this year. Teachers are tired and just trying to survive, and keep being asked for more. This job is hard and getting harder all the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #currentlysurviving by ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ LISTENING: In These Silent Days by Brandi Carlile, Jukebox the Ghost ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ READING: A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum, Exit West by Mohsin Hamid ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WATCHING: Heartland, GBBO, Ted Lasso ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks to @mskennedyreads and @chcknstew_for_the_readerssoul for tapping me in to share what’s helping me make it through!
