I picked up Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason because of @theoryof.lauren’s deep and abiding love for it — because she kept sharing quotes like: “Everything is broken and messed up and completely fine. That is what life is. It’s only the ratios that change. Usually on their own. As soon as you think that’s it, it’s going to be like this forever, they change again.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If there’s one thing I’m gonna do, it’s throw over my TBT to read a book because I saw a quote from it out of context. Sorrow and Bliss is, as the name would suggest, an emotionally devastating and beautifully rendered portrait of a life: messy and beautiful and awful all at once. It’s about mental illness, and family, and figuring your shit out. It’s about relationships in all the forms as the guiding force of our lives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Pick it up for the writing alone! I always appreciate a writer who understands that grief and humor can (and do) coexist. The audiobook is beautifully narrated, but I’m already on a search for a physical copy to add to my collection because I *will* be rereading this. 💛 via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CnfX42sPIys/
