I love an Austen or fairy tale or mythology retelling as much as the next reader, but Dickens inspired historical romances are something I didn’t know I needed! The Viscount and the Vixen by Lorraine Heath is a Great Expectations inspired read that begins when Locke’s father, a recluse who is believed to have gone mad with grief, tricks his son into a marriage of convenience with a beautiful widow. Locke has sworn never to fall in love — but marriage to Portia might jeopardize everything. While The Earl Takes All remains my favorite of the series so far (I DNF’d book one), I really enjoyed this book, in particular Portia’s relationship with Locke’s father. Lorraine Heath is definitely one of my most read historical romance authors and I’m looking forward to picking up the ARC of her latest book very soon.
