I fear I’ve found an Elsie Silver book that I don’t love: Wild Love was just okay for me. If you’re a fan of childhood friends to lovers, snark is how I show my love, and surprise kids, you may enjoy this one; I found that it fell a bit short on the usual magic I feel when reading an ES book. Antics and moments that were supposed to be playful came across as juvenile, and even though it had an (almost) epistolary element which is a personal fave of mine, I just didn’t connect with this one like I’d hoped.
