Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas is the second book in the Hathaways series, but the one I read last, and it was so fun to see it all come together! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Merripen and Win have that “I’ve loved you forever” kinda love and it made for a sweeping and epic romance with several jumps in time. As per usual, it was fun to see Kleypas name drop characters from the Wallflowers series, although they aren’t central to this book. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was reminded of that tiktok where a woman is holding a romance novel and says “they’re together and happy” and then indicates to the length of pages left in the novel and says “so what’s this then?!” Because that was my experience EXACTLY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That said, I really do think this was a great book to accidentally end on (lol) because this is the book that gives us a ton of answers about Cam and Merripen and a sense of closure to their respective journeys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you love an emotionally scarred and angsty hero, you need to read the Hathaways series because it is chock full of ‘em. A truly excessive number of tortured men. 🤣 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CW: chronic illness, grief, loss of a loved one, pregnancy, child abuse, sexual content, use of a slur to refer to a Roma person ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Keep in mind that this is a book which deals heavily with Romany culture but is written by someone outside of that culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID1: I’m holding a mass market paperback copy of Seduce Me at Sunrise. ID2: The same book, open to the step back. ID3: A screenshot of Kate Clayborn’s tweets: “my toxic romance reading trait is liking it when a hero breaks up with a heroine “for her own good” when literally i don’t even allow my own husband to suggest that i take an ibuprofen for my menstrual cramps lol” — “you’re not the boss of me!” i exclaim, as i turn the page of a book where a man has just unilaterally made a stupid decision about a relationship” via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Ce3foDHLM1N/
