Christina Lauren are a great example of authors who aren’t afraid to try something different. Something Wilder is the eleventh (!!!) book of theirs that I’ve read, and it’s been so fun to see them grow and evolve over the course of their career. They wrote in the acknowledgements that they hoped to write a book for our post-pandemic world that was swoony, adventurous, and fun, and they delivered. They also delivered what is, quite possibly, my favorite example of the second chance romance trope. In spite of putting this book on my summer TBR, I almost didn’t go through with it after finding out it was a second chance romance (historically not my fave), but I’m so glad I did! Lily and Leo’s story was a surprise in all the best ways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What to know: -code breaking/puzzle solving -Heartland meets The Mummy -SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE THE WAY IT SHOULD BE ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ CW: grief, death, sexual content ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ID: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Something Wilder.
