“I want to have words for what my bones know. I want to use those gifts when they serve me and understand and forgive them when they do not.” ~ Stephanie Foo, What My Bones Know After Libby callously stole this book back from me at 50% and left me waiting for my hold to come back in, I was finally able to finish What My Bones Know! I don’t think it’s appropriate to say that I “enjoyed” reading this, as Foo’s story is often difficult to read, but I did appreciate the way she tied together her experiences with her research into trauma and C-PTSD. This book is not a trauma dump — it is an exploration of healing. Her examination of the role of generational trauma and its ties to the immigrant experience were of the most interest to me, as someone who comes from a similar (although very different cultural) background, and I would love to know if any of you have recommendations for books that explore a similar concept! Please check content warnings before picking this up, as there are many.
