Shoutout to Clare @unsuccessfulbookclub for encouraging me to pick up The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan! If you’ve got a Bridgerton S3 hangover, look no further than this achingly tender story with a confession of love that had me clutching my kindle to my chest. This story is similarly structured around friends to lovers, hidden identity, and women doing the damn thing for themselves and I absolutely adored it. Milan consistently writes some of the most beautiful stories about navigating familial relationships, trauma, and finding yourself (and someone else) that I’ve read, and I love how she always manages to give a voice to the voiceless while doing it; if you’re not reading her author’s notes, you’re missing out!! Violet and Sebastian’s story is so special and claims the spot of my favorite historical romance of the year so far — I’m already looking forward to rereading it. Please check TWs for this book before reading. 📸: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of The Countess Conspiracy with one hand. via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/C8UVYQoPsP7/
