Justin and Emma are both the people who people date before meeting The One, so they decide to date — just for the summer — and break up so they can break the curse. Just for the Summer is truly a summer read from the premise to the setting, and though it wouldn’t be an Abby Jimenez novel if it didn’t deal with some real life — neglect, grief, PTSD — it kept me hooked and I flew through it in an afternoon. Emma’s best friend says Justin is the embodiment of “if he wanted to, he would” and it’s true! In the words of @heaths.bookclub, he beats J-name allegations! Your honor, I love him! I think part of what makes this story so special is how real it felt. This story is so funny and sweet and there’s such an organic evolution to their relationship. I didn’t put together at first that this book takes place in the same universe with and features cameos from Part of Your World, so that was a fun surprise. I was saving this one for summer and it didn’t disappoint. 📸: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of Just for the Summer with one hand.
