I liked but didn’t love Somebody’s Daughter by Ashley C. Ford. As someone who had a complicated relationship with her own father, I resonated with her trying and failing to reconcile who she knew her father to be with what he had done. There aren’t always answers to be found. That said, I found myself wanting more; I wished Ford had spent more time exploring her relationship with her family and less on her romantic relationships, which sometimes felt like tangents from the overall arc of the story she was telling. Without giving too much away, I was left wondering why more of the memoir didn’t take place in her adulthood. I’d be interested in talking to others who have picked this one up and hearing their takes on it!
