The Stranger I Wed by Harper St. George is a spin-off of St. George’s Gilded Age Heiresses series, meaning it takes place in the same universe as her OG characters — I don’t think you *have* to read that series to pick this one up, but if you’re going to, The Duchess Takes a Husband is the one to pick up first! When I read the first book in the series, The Heiress Gets a Duke, I liked the premise and Gilded Age backdrop but found the book missing that emotional angst — The Stranger I Wed definitely makes up for it! Cora is an illegitimate daughter who has to marry to get her inheritance, and Leo is a down on his luck Lord; the two engage in a cash for class marriage but quickly find themselves catching feelings. These two are *so* sweet and immediately smitten, which definitely complicates their transactional marriage. I just loved watching these knuckleheads go, “OH NO. ITS LOVE.” while also trying to navigate marriage, London society, and getting bills through Parliament. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Dove sisters in books to come! 📸: I’m holding up a kindle displaying the ebook cover of The Stranger I Wed.
