In honor of my third bookstaversary (!!!), allow me to present the anatomy of a bookstagrammer’s shelf! I spy: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -book sleeves by @happygolovelysleeves and @meagansbookclub -a tin full of bookmarks, book darts (influenced by @_shelflove_) and postcards/notes from friends that I never use as bookmarks because I’m always using a random reciept 🤦🏻‍♀️ -a collection of Penguin clothbound classics -a collection of Pantone + Puffin editions (influenced by @booksandlala) -a collection of Nancy Drew books for @emileereadsbooks’ #NancyDrewBookCrew -a collection of Mary Oliver poetry for #TheMaryOliverProject -two YA fantasy series that make it look like I read more YA fantasy than I actually do 🤣 -books I’ve been gifted, won in giveaways, and buddy read -thrifted books with their price tags still on them 🤷🏻‍♀️ -books purchased at independent bookstores (love ya, @bookmarksnc and @flyleafbooks) -Gilmore Girls DVDs (my username is a GG reference, if you didn’t know) -SO. MANY. UNREAD. BOOKS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know this place can feel at times like shouting into the void and we’re all increasingly frustrated with this platform, but it’s also been a place of joy and connection in an isolating and difficult few years. I wish I had created my account sooner (if you’ve been toying with the idea of doing something, DO IT!) but it was definitely born at a time when I needed it.
