While it took me a minute to get fully invested in The Bride Test, I was into The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang from the beginning. I’m all for The Wedding Date/Pretty Woman “we’re definitely not catching feelings because this is a fake relationship” vibes and this delivered! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stella thinks she needs a crash course on intimacy to help her meet the right guy. Michael thinks that with the right guy, Stella wouldn’t need a lesson plan. When Stella hires Michael, the two quickly realize that there’s more to their deal than meets the eye - but it’s just business...right?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hoang, as always, does a fantastic job balancing characters with chemistry and substance. There’s autism rep, clear consent, and lots of unlearning of ableist relationship standards. I love that the roles are reversed, so there’s a woman working in a male dominated field and vice versa and that both characters have their own journeys independent of their relationship. I loved Michael’s family so much - no surprise, since it’s part of the same extended family from The Bride Test! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love Hoang’s books and can’t wait for her next book, The Heart Principle, to come out later this year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TW: anti-autistic ableism, cancer via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/COx0anurYnZ/
