First Comes Like by Alisha Rai is a book I picked up on name recognition but knew nothing about, and finally moved up my TBR after @tiffersbooks recommended it as a sweet, low steam romance. I really struggled initially because I started by listening to the audiobook - the narration didn’t work for me - but as soon as I picked up the physical book, I enjoyed it much more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jia and Dev are CINNAMON ROLLS - an influencer and TV star, respectively, who are navigating life in the public eye - and both they and their adorable families must be protected at all costs. After an awkward catfishing incident, Jia and Dev decide to embark on a fake relationship but quickly discover their feelings are anything but. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First Comes Like is the third book in the Modern Love series, which can (apparently 🤣) be read out of order. It is authored by a South Asian woman and features Pakistani American Muslim and Indian protagonists - representation I definitely want to see more of in contemporary romance! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While I generally enjoy a little more tension or conflict in my stories, if you’re looking for a low-stakes, low-intensity read, I think you’ll really enjoy this one! I’ve already picked up The Right Swipe (book one) and plan to finish the series! via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CPib8iiL0sd/
