My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren is basically the book equivalent of that scene from Friends: “They don’t know that we know that they know!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reid and Millie are part of a group of coworkers turned friends and are strictly platonic - that is, until they spend half a night together. Their relationship evolves from there, with lots of complications, drama, and uncertainty about whether a relationship is viable and whether it’s worth risking their group dynamic to find out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved Reid, Millie, and their friends turned found family dynamic (I saw much of myself and my coworkers/friends in it - seriously, how do other adults make friends outside of work?) and I loved Millie’s job as a female-serial killer expert (definitely some MFM vibes there). There’s hijinks aplenty, but some emotional depth, too: I definitely related to Millie’s tendency to withhold emotionally from her friends and family, especially when going through something difficult - hiiiiii 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Overall, if you can get past some of the more unrealistic aspects (twenty something academics, catfishing shenanigans), I think you’ll enjoy this one! via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/CPGGjcHLYMJ/
